ఆహార (Food!)

The food here is good, it’s pretty spicy though!  Apparently Vishakhapatnam is known for its extremely spicy foods. I’m incredibly grateful though because the cooks make the food semi-mild for us, they don’t kick things up to the Vishakhapatnam level.  We eat here with our right hand only.  Every meal (except for breakfast) has been served with rice.

I MISS AMERICAN FOOD!!! I mostly miss having a regular breakfast.  Here, even our breakfast is spicy.  Breakfast so far, is this food that looks like crepes (the taste is far from anything crepe like) and you dip them in a spicy dip.  So everything has a kick to it, which I hope to get used to.

Slimy Yet Satisfying...

So here, we get served a lot of papaya. I can’t decide if I like it or not.  One afternoon Sailaja (one of the darling assistant cooks) came up to our rooms and had a bunch of freshly cut papaya on a silver serving plate and was bringing us all some.  I took one wanting to be polite.  It’s kind of a slimy super juicy fruit that looks like salmon almost.  It seriously is the weirdest texture, it’s so squishy it’s almost like it dissolves in your mouth.  It’s also quite slippery so it slides right down your throat, and if you don’t eat it quick the juices will drench your hand and run all over your arm!

Our dining room table! With papaya and my favorite, Boost!

Some Beautiful Sites To See!

The most wonderful and delicious breakfast I've had here was french toast!!!!! With honey on top and an amazing banana drink and Boost!

I don't know that I have ever been so happy to see french toast!

Cake!!! They actually have cake here haha we were all so pleasantly surprised to see this!

This was a really good lunch with chicken, grapes, the usual rice and tortilla (don't know what it's called here), and other things that I have no clue what they are!
A Very Special Lunch - Served on a banana leaf, there were lots of different things that they served us but it was all pretty good!  The banana was the best part.

Everyone sitting on the floor for our special lunch!

Another breakfast meal, this time not very spicy!

Some Delicious Homemade Meals

I love the spicy chicken that they make!

This is a common lunch meal at places outside of the house. (Other than the rice I honestly don't know what the other stuff is)

One of our translators is a really great cook, he made us banana bread and it was great!
Our translator also made us some chicken noodle soup.  It looked kind of scary but it tasted great!
I took a picture of it with my camera's flash on... which didn't help its appearance.
This is one of my most favorite drinks here!  The grape juice here is SO SO good!!! I'm going to miss it!

Some Yummy North Indian Food!!!

Our professor took us to this really good north Indian food restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner haha.  The food was SO incredibly good!  I'm not too crazy about their breakfast foods, but the food that they had for lunch and dinner was absolutely amazing, I wish I could get it at home!

This is what they gave us for breakfast!  They were huge dosas!
I made the right choice! I had no idea what I was ordering but I got a winner! This was so delicious.
Oh delicious naan!
Another wonderful choice, garlic noodles and a chocolate milkshake!
